Take a look, if you dare, through our looking glass and you will encounter the strange and whimsical world of Wonderland. The Prop House recently transported guests of Somerville House to the 2016 Mad Hatter’s Ball. Hosted by yours truly, The Hatter did not disappoint in delivering an event that was truly magical and of course, a little quirky. Table Décor
Guests enjoyed all the splendour and extravagance of dining with The Hatter; each table was themed one of three colours: vibrant red, green and blue. The centrepieces, custom crafted by The Prop House, were decadently and purposefully designed ensuring a clear sight line at every angle. They featured three over-sized flowers, ivy strands, spirals, plenty of glitter and velvet hats perched on top.
The Mad Hatter’s theme heightened throughout the room, starting with a centralized rotating pocket watch. This all encompassing feature brought interaction and movement to the space. Sky blue ceiling drapes met and lapped along the ceiling with strands of white lanterns and festoon lighting. Oversized playing cards reflecting the Queens Guards elegantly hung in the distance creating the illusion of floating cards. Keeping in theme of the velvet hats, white velvet drapes were used as stage backdrops along with the placement of two inflatable candy trees which framed the stage nicely.
Vibrant colours, oversized features, obscure shapes and beautiful textures created a world of wonderment and wacky fun. The event was true to The Hatter’s style – we are looking forward to seeing how the next instalment of Alice in Wonderland twists and shapes this theme for future events to come. Don’t be late for that important date as my dear friend The White Rabbit would say…
Yours in madness,
